Hale Nohea is a 7,000 square foot single-family residence centrally located in East Oahu. The home sits atop Maunalani Heights where 300° sweeping views of Diamond Head, Kahala, Palolo Valley, Downtown Honolulu, Koolau Mountain Range, Waianae Range, lush gardens, and the ocean are present from picturesque windows. Each room has its own stunning view, its own ambience, and the warmth only a home can provide.
On the first level is the resident and garage entry with stair and elevator access to all floors. The main entrance for guests and visitors is located on the second level. This is also where the common areas including a living room, dining room, game room & library, office, and kitchen, where the majority of daily activities take place, can be found. Three resident rooms are also located on this level and reserved for our non-ambulatory and expanded residents.
The remaining bedrooms are located on the third level. Our residents have the option of taking the stairs or elevator; however, a staff member always assists any resident when ascending or descending in the elevator or stairs. Safety gates are at stairway entrances to ensure the safety of the residents. During the day, residents are encouraged to remain together on the second level for meals, various activities, exercise, and rest time. After dinner, staff escort residents to their private rooms where motion sensors and video surveillance assist staff in continuous monitoring. Hourly checks throughout the evening and night are also preformed.
Six of the seven bedroom suites are large, private, and equipped with many amenities. These amenities include a state-of-the-art Volker bed imported from Germany, (click here for more information on our beds) 32-42" flat screen LCD televisions, versatile hospital side table, custom drapery, closets, motion sensor, video monitoring surveillance, ceiling fans, full reclining lounge chair, and built-in furniture including dressers, desks, and bookshelves. There is one semi-private room and two private room on the second level for our expanded and/or limited mobility residents. These rooms are equipped with Hill-Rom hospital type beds to accommodate for comfort and advanced needs. The third floor has four private rooms. Each room on this floor shares a bathroom with one other room. Residents also have their own sink and storage area for the bathroom.
Hale Nohea also has ample areas to walk in our large gated secured patio and garden. Walking, croquet, Bacci Ball, and gardening are just a few scheduled outside activities residents are encouraged to enjoy.

Activities of Daily Living
To accommodate and bolster the morale of our residents, varied activities are tailored, and geared specifically for your loved one to have daily success. Our activities often will be individualized for each resident's ability. Staff will often utilize skills used in a resident's former occupation, or draw on past interests. Much activity is centered on basic domestic routines providing an environment of familiarity and accomplishment. Activities such as cards, board games, conversation cards, gardening, flower arrangement, and various arts and craft activities help promote creativity and help maintain effective motor skill. Our activities are designed to stimulate all senses, are always voluntary, and kept short to maximize effectiveness.
Along with personalized daily activities, our staff understands the importance of socialization. Therefore, each day group activities are planned. These activities range from stretch, Tai Chi, indoor/ outdoor games, classic movie nights/ group evening television, storybook or newspaper reading, listening to popular music from a residents' era, and pet therapy. Each day, activities both personal and social are scheduled and executed to create an environment of structure, safety, socialization, personal accomplishment, and fun!
Each Friday, Hale Nohea has a professional entertainer to conduct "music class." During this time, residents are encouraged to sing and play music with the group. This is a wonderful opportunity for our families to enjoy, participate, and laugh in a fun filled afternoon with their loved one. Due to the range of physical limitations with some of our residents, our activities are conducted on premises. Authorized family and friends are welcome to take their loved one on outings as often as desired if medically cleared.
